Vickie Martin is a Guelph artist. She enjoys painting landscapes, abstracts and florals using
paint mediums: oil, watercolour, acrylic, and mix media.
Since Vickie is visually impaired, her paintings express the emotion and the atmosphere of the place,
in which she finds her self. Her work expresses the inner soul of her being, which gives each painting its own
special colour and dimension. Each painting is a piece of her self. To her, the greatest gift is to see the glow
that a person experiences, when they communicate with one of her paintings. When this happens, the inner
soul of the painting is speaking to the inner soul of the person. This is what art should do. Vickie often says
that her work is a gift from God because this talent was not shown to her until she lost her sight. However, in
retrospect, she does say that she can see better now than she ever could.
Over the years, Vickie has shown her work in many local art venues: Kloepfers Gallery, Art-in-Guelph
Gallery, Creative Arts Association exhibits Expressions and Painting-on-the-Green, and the Guelph Arts
Festival Studio Tour. As well she donates pieces of art for various community functions: the Homeless, Aids,
CT Scanner for the local hospital, Women of Distinction Awards, the YMCA, to name a few. Each one of us,
must give back to society and with Vickie its through her donations.
The situation at hand isn't what it sems to be. Messages and goals are unclear.
