Based in Guelph, Ontario, Guelph Arts Council functions as an
umbrella organization, working to stimulate and co-ordinate the
development of the visual, heritage, literary and performing arts
so as to enrich the cultural life of the community and to encourage
the widespread appreciation of, support for and involvement in

- GUELPH ARTS COUNCILMEMBER SERVICES
Consultation/Co-ordination/Facilitation Service
- provides guidance and administrative support to individuals/groups
- serves as advocate for individuals, groups and community in
supporting and
nurturing the role of arts and culture in education and community
life
-serves as catalyst/initiator/facilitator for new ideas or programs
-serves as liaison with educators, city officials, provincial
and federal bodies
- serves as "eyes and ears" of cultural life in community

- flyer, brochure, poster display space available
-extensive files on local, regional, national organizations
-reference library of current periodicals, directories and other
materials
on such topics as taxation, copyright, grants, marketing, charitable
status
-arts directory of local artists and art organizations
-comprehensive press list available as well as list of community
groups
-a place to find out "what's going on"
Master Calendar
- comprehensive year-long calendar of cultural events
-serves to help arts community co-ordinate and schedule events
-helps avoid the problem of double bookings
-serves to publicize upcoming events
-consult GAC office before scheduling events

-complete newsletter mailed bi-monthly to members
-articles about visual, performing, media, literary and heritage
arts
-calendar of community arts-related events
-listings of gallery exhibits, courses/workshops, youth programs,
calls for entry,
conferences, grants/awards
-serves to keep community current and informed

-ongoing Historical Walking Tours in spring and fall
-ongoing Heritage Awards program
-annual Féte Romantique fundraiser
-annual Youth Awards program
-periodic workshops and information evenings for groups/individuals
Mailing Insert Service
-arts-related brochures, flyers, posters can be included with
mailing of Arts in
Guelph (small basic charge)
-inserts must be approved by Guelph Arts Council
Meeting/Workshop Space
-available for non-profit groups for reasonable fee
-room capacity for 35-40 people
-overhead, slide projector, flip chart, lectern, tables, fridge,
coffee maker available
-advance bookings required
Equipment Usage
-photocopier, postage meter, fax machine, available at reasonable
rates
-advanced bookings requested
-long-arm stapler, paper punch, paper cutter also available
-advance bookings requested
Mail Holding Service
- available for non-profit cultural groups that need an address
for receiving mail
(without the expense of a post office box)
