Employing a grammar of abstraction that borrows equally from aerial photography,- map symbolism and primitive iconography, Chris Ahlers creates colourful
- paintings that are as visually engaging as they are cerebral.
- Painterly abstraction meshes with hard-edge elements to yield canvases that
- reverberate with compositonal tension and evoke natural rhythms.
- These paintings form a contemporary response to the riddle of
- beauty and subjective experience.
